JAMB has made NIN a hard requirement for all 2026 UTME registrations. That route is now closed for applicants without NIN.

Cut-off scores and subject combinations

JAMB has raised the general minimum score from 140 to 160 for most universities. Polytechnics remain at 120.

Result verification goes fully digital

Universities will verify JAMB results directly through JAMB's API system rather than accepting printouts.

Key takeaways

  • NIN is mandatory for all 2026 UTME registrations
  • Minimum score for most universities rises from 140 to 160
  • Computer Science courses must now include Physics as compulsory
  • University result verification is now fully digital
